Busy weekend.
Jul. 19th, 2009 08:13 pmFriday: People went to the wall, then out for pizza. I did not deserve pizza, having only been to the caving club meeting, but had it anyway :)
Saturday: Out to Hen Cloud, near Leek for a spot of climbing, after waiting in the cafe for the rain to stop. We got up 'K2' and 'Central Climb' - generally the sort of thing where it makes no difference if you are wearing sticky rubber shoes or hobnailed boots with a tweed jacket as they did in 1909. I led K2, which Chris then struggled with due to the loooong reach at the hard bit. Chris led the whole of Central, since it was a bit hard for me. The first pitch was a horrible offwidth crack - too wide for hands, to narrow for a whole body - so approached by wedging in a knee and a shoulder and wiggling. C. was screaming at me for insisting she put some gear in for protection so she wouldn't hit the ground, but agreed I'd been right when she got to the ledge. Pitch 2 was pretty similar, with a shirter but very slippy chimney thing, requiring more wedging and wriggling..mmm.
After all that, a huge shepherd's pie and beer was just the ticket.
Sunday: Massive tidy up, then parents round with a visit for sunday roasts at the local Italian. I spent most of the time checking the cricket scores :)
