A very good weekend. Saturday consisted of climbing near Dovestones Reservoir with Sam and Bec. This was noticeable for two things: (i) my first ever lead fall of around 2 meters. Disconcerting, but I didn't hit much on the way down and was held nicely on the rope thanks to a camalot I'd stuck in a crack part way up. (ii) shortly afterwards, my hardest lead yet, the excellent Route 1 (HS 4b).

After a brief stop in Mossley for tea and medals we all popped into Mr Perry's birthday party. Much fun had by all and I retained my 'Hairiest Man' title (although I'd really like some kind of hairy god to come along and take it away from me!). Good effort from Lyzniak - so near, but so far.

Far too early on Sunday w headed up to Ingleton for a day of caving. The original plan was a no go due to the rain, so the alternative was Lancaster Hole with an exit through Wretched Rabbit. 33m abseil to start then some nice passages. Our intrepid leader then asked for 'a couple of fast thin lads', and havinf volunteered, the three of us headed round the waterfall pitch - a bit of crawling then a crazy moment of lowering ourselves down a waterfall hand over hand on a rope before jumping into a chute full of fast flowing water. Fantastic! The exit was a bit spicy - lots of short climbs, traverses over canyons and pulling up steep bits of rock using a knotted rope.

I hurt lots and my shins look like I've been attacked with a stick :)
