I bought a new bike at the weekend, which cost around the same as my last one bought 8 years ago. I am amazed at what the combination of parts-manufacturing in China with the buying power of Decathlon can do, since this bike is much, much better. Took it out for a spin in the forest yeasterday and in no time was bouncing over rocks and enjoying the suspension and disc brakes :)

Oct. 15th, 2007 05:34 pmWhile making space for the bike in the shed, I had to clear out some boxes I'd dumped in there - mainly LRP stuff which had gone a bit mouldy in my old cellar. Some of it I've just had to bin, mainly wooden boxes and bits of leather. The metalwork I'm not worried about - mould remover and boiling water should do the trick. The difficult bit is the leather that I want to keep. Not sure whether using toxic mould remover is a good idea as it may never come out again...on the other hand I really don't want to have to chuck my leather-bound telescope..
