No backbone in my starter...
Feb. 8th, 2007 12:09 pmMy dinner last night appeared to have been produced by cordoning off a large swathe of the ocean, filtering it of all living things then dumping them on my plate. From recollection, the starter contained: 2 types of oysters, mussels, 2 types of clams, 3 types of prawn, langoustines, winkles, 2 varieties of snails, and several shellfish I failed to recognise. Having stuffed myself on that, the main course was a fish cassoulet, with a family sized portion containing 8 types of fish. I could barely walk on leaving the restuarant...
The skill for eating snails is to desperately not think about what it looks like before you chomp.The foot can be a bit chewy.
Conference is good today, and should be finished in a couple of hours. The plan for tomorrow was to go and find ssome snow, but unlike the UK, there isn't any! I might just wander up one of the small mountains outside of town to the high snowline.
