May. 20th, 2005 05:45 pmInteresting few weeks...
Went to Turin for the weekend, and was almost killed with food. The local custom is `aperitivo'. You get charged a little extra for the beer or coffee or whatever (5 euros for a beer) but then they bring plate after plate of food over for you. I gorged myself like a pig! The city itself is quite nice, despite its reputation as a grimy industrial town. We found plenty of cultural stuff to do, and no shortage of opportunities for beer drinking and partying.
The week after was in Kent for a friend's birthday party. Had a good time, but the 5hr drive is excessive. Its a very high quality party when the standard party booze is big bottles of Leffe...
Other than that I've been spending my entire life at the lab. Luckily I managed to escape to go climbing which is always a great way to
not focus on work (not falling off being a more pressing concern...).
